		Council Rescinds Pay Raises
At its first April meeting, Shadyside council decided to give a pay raise to
council members and the mayor.  The only hiccup at the time was a
$50,000 a year increase in the village budget. Meeting State regulations was the reasoning for this action.
 However, at the
April 24 meeting the hidden meaning of this proposal was shown.
Future benefits of a PERS retirement and health care was pointed out as
an underlying benefit of the council. Council quickly withdrew the raise to
minimize the implication of covertly trying to pad
		its pockets.
